Of COVID-19 and Snakes
We humans should trigger our primal fear in order to survive.
After all these months of a pandemic, with no clear end to it, I ponder how we can survive. The last pandemic from a century ago lasted from February 1918 to April 1920 (26 months), I thought with our advancement in technology we could half that time for the current COVID-19. But on January 30, 2022, we have done 24 months, I guess viruses have evolved as better as humans have. With this knowledge, we should all be at our best behavior to survive this mutating pathogen.
Everything we think is intriguing is not really intriguing. An example is the snakes; a vast majority of snakes are not venomous, however, those that are, are the deadliest land creatures on earth. And because of that, humans have eventually evolved into quickly learning to fear snakes.
With that in mind, I believe all of humanity as a matter of urgency needs to ‘activate’ that fear trigger…the ‘fear of COVID-19’. The same way we have the disposition to fear snakes. Here’s the snake analogy; the majority of people that catch COVID-19 are asymptomatic, and many including those that are symptomatic are recovering, however, those who die, die badly…gasping for their last breath.
All it takes to ‘activate’ that trigger is being aware, acknowledging the existence of this big problem that we must be afraid of. We should all fear COVID-19 just like we do snakes, practice the healthcare guidelines, and get vaccinated.
We do not know for how long the COVID-19 scourge shall ravage us, at the end of the day, our survival instincts are what shall allow us persevere. Wear that mask, social distance, wash those hands, and take your supplements. Most of all go get vaccinated.
